Another game and another 3 points lost but not without a fight as Burry Port, 2-2 at half time, ended up on the wrong end of a 10 goal thriller.
Out were Craig Goodman (ankle), Darren Webb (semi retirement :-) ) and Ross Jones. In came Jon Fleming in centre midfield after his soirée upfront v Loughor last week and Gareth Walters on the left side of midfield. Warren and Jonny Bird returned up front.
With the game barely 5 minutes old, a nasty clash of heads with two Trallwm defenders saw one of the players taken off for medical treatment and the other bandaged up. We wish them both a speedy recovery. With a quiet start to the game it was Trallwm who went ahead. A through ball found its way under keeper Damien Outen’s hands which let in the Trallwm forward who slotted home, 1-0. With Burry Port’s first attack of the game, a shot from Warren Bird was well saved by the Trallwm keeper which let in Gareth Walters for the rebound, 1-1.
With the game fairly even at 1-1 it was Burry Port who took the lead. Joe Pullman with the ball in midfield fed Warren Bird with an accurate through ball and Bird made no mistake sliding the ball past the keeper, 2-1 Burry Port. Burry Port looked to extend their lead but with excellent saves from the Trallwm keeper, they were denied. Burry Ports lead didn’t last long, with around 5 minutes remaining in the second half Trallwm were level. A mix up in communication in defence allowed the Trallwm striker one on one with the keeper and made it 2-2 at the break.
The second half started with early pressure from Trallwm. This pressure finally paid off when Burry Port midfielder Jonathan Fleming appearing to make tug at Ricky Dago's shirt inside the box, penalty. The striker got up and made no mistake from the spot, 3-2. A spell of 15 minutes saw very few chances for Burry Port and it was Trallwm who had most of the play. It was with approx 30 minutes remaining when Burry Port equalised. Another good through ball from Joe Pullman put in Jonny Bird who shot past the keeper, 3-3.
Trallwm then got into gear and created many chances with 20 minutes remaining. Some good play in the last third saw Trallwm put their forward through one and one and he finished well, 4-3. Trallwm’s confidence grew after going ahead and scored two quick goals in 5 minutes. A free header from a corner then made it 5-3 to Trallwm. 5 minutes later it was to get worse for Burry Port. The midfield finding another gap in the defence and letting in the striker who made it 6-3. With roughly 10 minutes remaining Burry Port pulled a goal back. A corner from Jonny Bird found Dean Evans at the far post to hit home, 6-4. Tom Shaw recieved a nasty blow to his ankle which puts him in doubt for Saturdays trip to Llandeilo. Both teams seemed to sit back for the remainder of the game with the final score, 6-4.
